    DC question, help.

    I have 1946 DC-3, under the seat area, near the fill plug (to the eagle lift), there is a hole in the top of the housing. possibly a vent ? It goes in on an angle and could funnel water in, but why ? Anyone know the purpose of this ? thanks

    IH 404 ?

    A friend was showing me their 20 some farm tractors today. He said one older IH was a model 404. I never heard of that number, has anyone. It did look as old as the numbered series. when did they switch to the 3 digit numbers ? AND did IH make a plain C, or only Super C ? thanks.

    DC trans fluid

    I have a Case DC with power lift in rear. (3 point). A hose to the lift cylinder broke last fall. Now I am ready to get it going. Can someone tell me what type of fluid to use and approx. where the fill cap is. I bought a manuel from YT, but the pictures are so dark I cannot make out where...

    well it did come out "down" thru the frame. but we have since split the tractor for a couple reasons and that will make it easier to reinstall the block.

    Thanks for the replys. I can now say, the block will drop down out of the frame,close fit but it is not difficult. NO removal of steering shaft needed.
