    Allis Chalmers Tractors

Thanks Tom, I will watch for your postings for the answer. Have asked around here locally and no one around here seems to know either. One farmer told me maybe "Wide Drive" but he was laughing at the same time he said it to. Watch him be right!!

    Allis Chalmers Tractors

When I see an AC tractor with the letters WD or WD-45, what does the "WD" stand for. Tried to google it but never could find what it stands for. Thanks, fortyniner.

    Lift Lever On 1949 8N

I have my five foot finish mower on my 8N and yesterday when I was lifting the mower up to move the tractor I heard a loud noise that sounded like a piece of metal was in a bind and then broke loose. When I went to set the mower down I noticed the lift lever acted like it wasn't hooked up to...

    O.T. chain saws choices

I use a Jonsered for the big stuff and a 16" Homelite for the small stuff. Wish I could still buy the old style Homelite that had a metal case. I think they were a light blue color. Those were good old saws. Have used the Jonsered for many years and have always had good luck with them. The...

    8N Rear Light Bulb

My 1949 8N front mount 12 volt conversion has a light mounted on the left fender (When setting in the seat) that has a clear piece of glass on top of the light assembly and has a red lense. I was told this is an original light that was put on after the tractor was made. I am just about ready to...

Finish mower blade positioning (KK 5 ft)

I have a five foot King Kutter finish mower I use and there is no special orientation for the blades, at least not on mine. I have noticed that if I cut wet grass it will leave some streaks and if I make a sharp turn it will leave a small streak. Make sure your blades are not upside down.

    Wiring For Headlights

Thanks guys, my old 48 6 volt does or let me say did have an in-line fuse but it is not hooked up. Appears to be the original thing. Don't think there are two inches of insulation on the wires anywhere they are all bare!! Got to get it fixed to as soon as I get my 49 back up and going. Again...

    Wiring For Headlights

Getting ready to wire the headlights on my 1949 8N. What gage of wire should I use for them? When I removed the old wire I noticed there was no in-line fuse anywhere in the line. It does need an in-line fuse doesn't it? Maybe a 20 amp or so? Thanks, fortyniner.

    Spark Plug Wires

Finally found some copper core wires today. You have to put the end on them that goes to the dist cap. They are a very stiff wire so they may be a handfull to get through the tube with the other wires that go through there. It will be worth it anyway as they are the only copper cored wires I...

    Spark Plug Wires

You are right on there old, as the wires that are on there now came from O'Rilies. JMOR, if I someway find a good set I will post it for all. Got to go get them today so I can get this thing all back together and get it and myself back to work. Thanks to all of you for your info. fortyniner.

    Spark Plug Wires

I need to replace the plug wires on my 1949 8N front mount 12 volt conversion. Would like to get a good set of wires for a change. I live out in the middle of nowhere and the closest place is an O'Rilies, or Bumper To Bumper auto parts store. What would be a good kind of wire to get? Is there...
