Brush Hogging with a Sherman Trans

    3pt. Lift Arms

Might be a bent control arm. Mine was acting strange, I couldnt see oil spraying or anything obvious through either side cover so I pulled the top cover. The sump was full of sludge and when I got a look at my control arm it was anything but straight. After cleaning out the sump, straightening...

    2n 12 volt coil question

Once everything gets warmed up, the original 6-volt system has a total of about 2.5 ohms of resistance including the coil. The usual recommendation based on LOTS of field experience is that a 12-volt system needs to have a total of 3.6 to 4.5 ohms of resistance. I would err on the high side...

    Under Attack

Me too. I have not seen a mole hill in eight years but all of a sudden, this year they are EVERYWHERE! The wife's cats have gotten a couple, but there must be at least 20 of the varmints chewing up our yard. I wonder if some of those left over fireworks..... kl

    alt pully

I bought an assortment of inexpensive pulleys for the 5/8" belt at surpluscenter.com but I don't have the spec handy for the bore diameter that fits the generator or alternator. Mine were the same. Surplus Center

    New to site, sayin' hello.

I also have Zane's Live Thang on my tractor. The belt-driven pump makes running a back blade or bush hog MUCH easier. kl

    New to site, sayin' hello.

Welcome! I am using a Prince PTO pump to run my backhoe attachment. All you can get by tapping the original hydraulics is about 2 gpm and I needed more like 10 gpm! Backhoe

    2n 12 volt coil question

There are some real 12-volt front mount coils out there, but I believe even those need at least and additional 1/2 to 1.0 ohm resistor to survive. Case-in-point - The 12-volt front mount coil I bought for my 48-8N measured 3.5 ohms. It was a true 12 volt coil and I was told that I did not need...

Water pump replacement - lesson learned

While its apart and easy to do I usually replace the hoses. Just personal preference but I dont like the universal flex hose when the correct pre-bent hoses are so easy to get. The flex always seems to want to rub against something and fail. My 2-cents kl

    Radiator Hood Pad

Yep, you assumed right, the pad goes between the radiator and the hood. You should also have two small black rubber pads that go under the radiator, between the radiator and the axle support. One for each bolt. kl

that forty dollar I save not worth it at all BS

That is what the insurance is for. File enough damage claims and they will eventually correct the problem because you are hitting them where it hurts the most, in their profit margin.

To replace tires or not to replace

I have a beautiful set of 15" rims, yes they are 15" rims, that somebody made so they could run a wider selection of tires on the front end. But I decided to go back to the original 19" rims and tires because it just didn't look right to me with those CAR tires on there.

    Lookin for an 8n

I paid $2250 for the first 49-8N I bought. It looked bad but I could have put it right to work. It started and ran well first time every time. It was plain to see that, unless I did a lot of catching up on the maintenance, it was not going to be reliable for long. Today I wouldn't spend more...
