    Hey gents..I have a 48 8n, the cooling system is good, new thermo, tight belt, cools good, But my gas tank builds up pressure and gets really Hot, there is some air escaping evidently because I can see drips of gas coming out by the gas cap, Do I just need a new cap ?..maybe open the hood on hot...

    almost boiling water and very hot gas in the tank were the indicators, I did have the level correct, But I think it was my fan belt being loose, I am now tryin to figure out the other problem so I will know for sure, its under the post topic starter wont stop

    starter wont stop

    I disconnected the push button starter switch, i left the wire hanging not touching anything, reconnected the battery cable and it started turning over agin, does this indicate the push button is bad ?

    part question

    was looking at the manual, early8n, what exactly is part no. Adapter 2N12426 ?...looks like its connected to the spark plug second from the front of the engine...its part 11 on the diagram page 119..I replaced plugs awhile back and do not remember anything like this...is this a needed part ?

    starter wont stop

    I charged the battery, had key off position, pushed the starter button and it engaged the starter and would not stop again, cant figure that out , with the key in the off position....

    got a early 8n front mount, starter and everything electrical is only about 2 years old, conversion setup, last two times I tried to start it the starter will not stop , had to pull the battery cable to stop it, any idea whats causing this ?, it has a key switch and the starter button down by...

    ok, ..I took the hose off, there is no thermostat, and my belt probly has too much play in it...I'll stick one in and tighten up the fan belt..Thanks

    I have the early 8n front mount getting over heating, tryin to figure if its the thermostat and or water pump, I figure I can take the thermostat out and test in hot water and see if it opens at 160 or so, Is there a way to to determine the condition of the water pump? .. Ron

    K, I think I have an impact wrench somewhere around here, it does come off counter clockwise correct ?

    I see now my alternator is narrower than the tractors pulleys and they make a wider one to go on the Alt...before I go boogerin things up I thought I would check here first, does the pulley on the alt just unscrew ? and it comes off or do I need to insert a pin to hold something to keep it all...

    ok, looks like the belt in the fan pulley is small, bottoming out totally and is a good fit on the alternator, the pulleys are different sizes...

    man, this baby gets screaming, seems like the fanbelt it lasts for the first couple minutes after startup, if I spray the belt with something it stops, whats causing this ?...need a new belt ?.too loose, too tight ?

    Thanks for the help on here, I got the coil and other parts in, she cranked right up and runs fine.

    and for the timing, just offset the petruding slot on the rearside 1/4 inch off the center line of the two bolts right ? jus turn it to that position ( after setting points) and slide the unit on the tractor ? (that tiny cotter pin was missing, and corrosion was holding it.)
