Just wondering if there is some place on the tractor where they would put that s/n?

The place you are looking for the ID plate is on lower part of the left seat bracket?

You can check the major cast parts for date codes and if they fall in line with the engine casting date code you can pretty much assume that is the original engine and is your serial number.

Just wondering if there is some place on the tractor where they would put that s/n? Mine does not have the tag that I see most pictures show, not even sure if there are holes where the rivets might have been.

The serial number plate was on the left seat support bracket. Tip the seat up and it should be easy to see. Some of the very early tractors had the plate on the shield below the pedals. Should not apply to 1944.
