Bat Wing Mower - Mowing with a Wing Vertical

Have a Rhino SR15 Flex-wing mower. (Batwing seems to be a Woods Equipment brand name) Operator's manual says to only run mower when wings are down. I have seen some local folks use their flex wing mowers to trim hedges, with one wing up (vertical, or near vertical). Any thoughts on that?

    1958 Ford 641… It Lives!

Dad’s old 641 has been sitting in the back of the barn for about 2 years. Took the 14 year old 6 volt battery home, and put in on intermittent charge for about a week. Hooked it up today… Turned it over a bit with the ignition off, until it had some oil pressure… Then turned on the key, and...

    4020 Remotes

There is a 4020 on CL with the attached picture of its rear remotes. Anyone know why there seem to be two types of remotes? Thanks.

Hood Guards… What do they fit?

Two grill/hood guards at local bone yard. Any suggestions on what they fit? I’m thinking 2020-2355 Mannheims, or something like that

5320 Hour Meter Flashing All 8s

Just bought a really clean looking 2004 year model 5320. Straddle mount, with power reverser. The dash works fine, other than the hour meter just flashes a bunch of 8s. This doesn't seem to be an uncommon issue with these era tractors. Has anyone here experienced this? Fix or replace...

    Any Mannheim Experts?

Our 2240 is in need of care from a expert that knows these machines. Does anyone have a "go to guy" for these tractors? Preferably around central Ohio (but I'd trailer it to the right person).

    Case 155

Anyone collect these? My BIL would like to find a good home for a nice one that is just sitting. He’s not interested in someone just trying to flip it, so let’s not go there. Somewhere there is a nice loving home for this nice old lawn tractor!

2240 (early SN) Neutral Start Switch

The neutral start safety switch on our 2240 (SN 260625CD) is acting up. I'll often need to wiggle the left lever to get the starter to spin/engage. Looking at the Deere parts website, there seems to be two options... RE38390 for $90.22 Listed as the original A-RE38390 for $39.61 Listed...

2240 Transmission Fluid Oil Level Markings

Early 2240… Does anyone know any estimate of the additional oil it takes to raise the transmission/hydrauliic oil level on the dipstick from the lower (add) mark to the upper (full) mark? Thanks.

    Best Logging Log Cut Lengths

Folks - Looking to pull some downed nice logs out of the woods. Mostly white pine, cherry and smooth bark hickory. Winter storm blew them over including the root ball. Thinking to cut the larger straight parts out, and drag them out of the woods for a mobile saw mill. Any suggestions on the...

    Ford 3400 On FB

Not mine, no affiliation. Wish I had the time and location to fix it…. Looks interesting. Diesel. HD Front axle. Looks to have some sort of a reducing auxiliary gearbox. At that price, even if just for the parts!

Ditch bank hedge row mower experience?

Does anyone have experience with the various tractor mounted offset mowing systems? Looking to get something to help maintain ditches and pond banks, and cut back growth around fields and fence rows. Looking for something that fits on the back of a 50hp-ish utility tractor (Deere 2240 /...

    Carburetor Options - Ford 4000SU

OK Folks - Current carb numbers look to be (hard to read) C9NN 9510C and R4111 Looking for comments on the best option to rebuild/replace the original Holley carb on our 3 cyl Ford 4000SU. Aftermarket rebuild kits seem to be around $40-50. Original OEM Zenith carbs are about $700. Priced...

    Cat 2 Top Link Length

I found it interesting how long the top link is for our Ford 4000 SU. It’s far too long to hook up a Deere 717 brush cutter. The 717 has an extra link in the top connection that’s about 4 inches. So the top link needs to be about that much shorter. Ended up using the top link from our Deere...

    Tractor Weight?

Any idea what the weight in the attached photos might fit? No apparent casting marks/numbers. Color looks to be rust. It’s about 12” long and 3.75” wide. It looks to be stackable, as the top seems to fit into the bottom.

    MF 2805

For various reasons, there hasn’t been much of a following/demand for these tractors. But there was a nice one at a local consignment sale that sold pretty well… $27,000. 2600 hours. All new tires, including radial duals. 3 remotes. Small 1000 PTO. I’d give it a 9 out of 10 for general...

    Drain tiles around barn

Looking to get some advice. I’ve got a barn in a low lying area that tends to have very soft and wet ground around it. Unless it’s a dry spell, just getting machines in and out make a horrible mess. The interior of the barn however is a bit higher, and stays dry. It’s just the surrounding ground...

White 2-105 through Workhorse 125 Knowledge

Used to own an early 2-105 (no front lights, air cleaner above engine, A/C condenser fans behind cab). Other than loud cab, and no foot throttle or diff lock, we really liked that tractor for mowing with 15 foot flex wing mower. Looking to buy something similar, and wondering what the wise...

    2240 Hydraulics Revisited

I posted a while back about our 2240 having some issues with the hydraulics - While mowing, the power steering and 3 point would stop working... Shut off everything... No leaks... Restart, all acted well. Happened twice. Tried diagnosing yesterday by just driving around a bit. Nothing...
