    MS carbs are dead simple. About the only bad thing you might run into is a very stuck main jet and you can clean the main jet adequately without removing it. Google rebuild a Marvel Shebler for a good tutorial. Oh, you may find excess wear around the throttle shaft but not much you can do...

    You could also have combustion gasses leaking into the coolant system through either a crack in the block or a leaking head gasket.

    It sounds like you have air trapped in the engine, though I have never heard of this in an N Ford. Try revving the engine to about 2000 rpms for a bit. This might force coolant through the engine fast enough to purge the air. That is if this is actually the problem.

    Sounds suspiciously like you have reversed the spark plug wires for cylinders three and four.

    Fball 1208, listen to Den. I think hew is saying that you need to take your carb off and clean all the internal passages because it is clogged up inside from sitting. You can have good fuel flow and still have an inoperable carb.

    radiator fluid discharge

    If the fan belt is OK and you haven't overfilled the radiator, the next step would be to do a compression check and maybe a leak down test. Sounds like a blown head gasket to me.

    Make sure that there is no corrosion on your battery terminals or on the cable ends.

    I have used 15W40 to good effect for many years in my 48 mutt. Some on here will advocate for straight weight oils and others say to use multi weight types. All I know for sure is that just about any oil you use will be far superior to anything that was available when your tractor was built.

    I just split my 48 for the first time. I blocked up the front end with 4x4s and moved the back end with a big floor jack. Don't forget to put wedges between the axle and the front of the engine to keep the engine from flopping over. Hardest part for me was removing the hood/gas tank assembly...

    My 48 mutt (51 sidemount engine) is back together. I burned up the clutch late last summer trying to get through some blackberry briers so I trailered it home for repairs. Didn't get it split until recently. Found two broken clutch disc hold down bolts so fixed that. Put the new clutch in...

    Power stteering

    If my last post wasn't clear maybe this will help. My PS set up uses individual cylinders, one on each side at the front. lines go prom the valve to each cylinder.
