    Oil pressure questions?

'63 4000(4cyl) gasser. It has always had oil pressure of 60-70(which I thought was too high maybe). Well, I started it today and the op was around 35. I went ahead and used it for 45-60 mins. brushmowing. Everything seemed to be normal with it. I guess it could be the gauge or sending unit is...

New Holland 851/845 How to Start a Roll

With my 851 I just roll in slow but keep the baler at PTO speed. If your windrow is getting pushed in front of the baler just slow down more or back up and try again. I may just be lucky, how wet or dry the hay is hasn't made a difference for me.

    smoking brakes

It's just a good idea to replace the brake hose if you replace a caliper, learned that one early. That kind of heat could also have damaged the wheel bearings, something else to think about.

NH 850 chain baler; chain broke; HELP !!

Couple questions, Did the chain break as well, or just the bar? If it's just the bar, take the broken one out, they usually get wedged in there and your next one or two get bent because of it. Take your bent ones out and straighten them, put them back in. You can make getting to them easier by...

    S69 baler question

Shouldn"t be a problem, but be sure to cycle it by hand a few times to be sure. If I remember right, the manual say 1/16" clearence.

    NH S68 Baler

I can pull them up by hand, takes quite a bit of effort though. Linkage looks to be good, but I"ll be going through it and the needle brake today. I"ll post what I find.

    Need sickle mower wisdom...

Is it plugging at the ends or in the middle? Plugging in different areas can have different causes. Most likely a problem with a guard or sickle. Changing the angle of your guards(pointing up or down)sometimes makes a difference. Also check to make sure the far end of the sickle bar is slightly...

    NH S68 Baler

I crashed my S68 last year, the pin that attatches the feeder tine bar to the chain broke. Made a mess of things. Got everything back together and ran some bales through it. Broke the flywheel shear bolt right away, I thought the needle brake had slipped, so I tightened it. Turned out that...

OT Transmission in a 1997 Dodge Pickup

I have a 96 1500 4X4,with the 360. Had the tranny rebuilt once. Dodge used 3 or maybe 4 transmissions in that year. Found that out when I had to replace the torque converter. I just called the shop that rebuilt mine for the transmission number. Can"t remember where the ID is on them...

    NH S68 baler

By twister hooks you mean the bill hooks, right? Do a search on Kelly C, he has pics of how to time a 68 baler. I"d look up the link but I"m pressed for time.

    3020D electrical problems

I have a 64 3020D that's giving me fits with the electrical system. None of the headlights or the fuel gauge work when the engine is running above an idle, when I throttle up, the lights get dimmer until they go out, and the fuel gauge quits working. If I just turn on the key, the gauge and...

    Hayliner 69 Help

Actually, chain length will make a difference. Most likely the new chain is shorter because the old chain has stretched. Almost all chains will stretch slightly with use. You may have to play with the timing, advance or retard, a little to get it to work just right.

    Hayliner 69 Help

Before you replace the shear bolt, is there anything that looks to be wrong? How many bales did you put through it after replacing the chain before the problems arose? Could be that the chain has stretched enough to thhrow your timing off slightly. What kind of shape are the sprockets in? I"d...

    Fluid change

I"ve got a 1963 1800 series C, gas. I need to do a complete fluid change on the old girl, got the manual, and it says something about using motor oil and an additive for the hydraulic system. What do you recomend I use for all the different fluids?

    1800

Went ahead and bought the 1800 I was asking about the other day, turned out that it belonged to an aquaintance for the last 30 years. It's a 1963 series C, made more sense about the carb issues. Came with a 1610 loader and a cab,400 hours on an engine overhaul, not a bad deal, prices being what...
