Progress has been a bit slow this summer with work and kids and other projects, but we finally got the engine on the 1550 diesel finished last week so I thought I would post pics of the progress.
The original block was shot, so a new one was located, thanks Brad. Pistons, sleeves, rings, bearings, all new installed in the new block. Old head was a basket case, but fortunately the project came with an acceptable replacement, it just had to be machined to fit and completely rebuilt(we probably went the hard way on this).
Pump and injectors were rebuilt, water pump rebuilt, oil pump rebuilt, etc, etc. Thankfully, we were able to save the oil dipstick and fuel filter housing and reuse those 2 items from the original engine! It's been a good project and quality learning experience so far, hope everyone enjoys the pics. Next up, rebuilding the front end and rear end....
