44, 46, 4890 wheelchair ?

660 guy

Hello: I'm paralyzed from the chest down and in a wheelchair, and I currently farm corn, soybeans etc. using two IH 660 tractors with lifts as well as a Farmall 450. My problem is I can't tolerate temperatures above @82 degrees unless it's windy do to my injury. I'm 55 years old and I can't take stressing myself out anymore. I also farm organically as it's much easier for me not having to spray. What I need is an air conditioned cab and a one tractor does ALL solution. So my desire is to buy a 4690 Case 4WD with AC, Heat, 3pt hitch and PTO. I've been looking for years and the only somewhat modern tractors I can drive from my wheelchair is a Case IH 9130 Row Crop Special or the more affordable JI Case 4490, 4690 or 4890. I need to be able to pull a 12 row planter a 12 row cultivator as well as pull a 500bu grain cart. I also would like to get a Great Plains Turbo Till vertical tillage tool and have the speed and HP required to pull one. All that said, this leads me my question. Would this be risky as I'm thinking with age of these tractors as well as all the steering functions on these machines a lot could potentially go wrong? Are parts still available? Anyone with any thoughts on this? I would appreciate any input!!! Thank you for your time!!!

We built a hoist for my 7045 Allis, so Dad could run it. The only thing we did inside the cab, was put a lever on the clutch pedal so he could "pull" the clutch instead of push it. He got along ok with it. If I had it to do all over again, I would have found a Case tractor to use instead. Bigger cabs, and doors that I think would have worked better. Other thing I would have done, is used a powershift instead of the Power Director.
