I'm working on a 1940 9N with front mount distributor.
The tractor is new to me, I bought it nonrunning.
The p/o converted it to 12 volt positive ground and
installed a Pertronix Ignitor ignition.I don't think
it ever ran with this alteration.
In chasing the no spark condition I found the spring
connector and the silver tab on bottom of coil bent over
and making no connection. The button on the dist.cap was
rusty with no connection possible. There was no gasket
between coil and cap. The ign. module has one wire connected
to the brass terminal with the condenser and the other wire
is cut off.
I contacted Pertronix for instructions and help and I'm waiting
to hear from them.
I checked for resistance and continuity across the terminals
of the coil and got 1.7ohms from the stud to the spring and
nothing at the other terminals. Is this right?
I've got a new cap and gaskets on the way so it will be awhile
before I can work on it.
Thanks for any help.
