C clutch

I am changing the clutch on my 1950 c Farmall
and the pressure plate that I keep getting sent to me has 6 bolt holes spaced evenly around the outer edge of the pressure plate. The one I took off had two bolts spaced approx two inches apart
in three places around the pressure plate.
Only three bolts will line up (of course)on the new pressure plate so is this the correct plate? My dealer says thats all thats available.

No it is not the right one. It needs all the bolts in it and that will not work.

If the dealer (CNH?) can not get you the correct PPA you may have to go to someone who deals in aftermarket clutches. If they do not have the correct one they should be able to rebuild your old one back to new specs.

It appears they gave me a rockford style pressure plate and what was in it was a auburn style.The clutch disc is the same as is the throwout bearing and pilot bushing.They are telling me this is all thats available and being new to these old tractors I am not all that familiar with what is available. Ihave looked on line at a couple of sites and thay look like rockford styles to me also.

Glen, I may have been wrong. The pressure plate you need may not be available new since you say it is the Auburn style. I went and looked at my old C that is torn down and it has the Rockford in it. If you can;t get one from that number I gave you, let me know as I may have a flywheel that will aloow you to use the Rockford clutch. Or you may be able to have yours rebuilt.

We did this with cars years ago when there a couple of types of pressure plates. We redrilled the flywheel to match the new pressure plate. It of course, had to be exact and we had a local machinist,using a lathe, scribe a circle in the flywheel to match the desired pressure plate. We then drilled the holes along the circle using a drill press. It worked for cars and they ran at a lot higher rpm than tractors do.

This pressure plate is the same height and diameter as the old one I took off and three bolt holes of the six do line up so if I cant get the correct one I will probably take the advice of drilling the other three holes to match.Thanks for everyones help I will let you all know how i make out this week.Thanks again
