Farmall Cub Holes in the Hood

On the right side of the hood just above the decal there are 2 roughly 1/2" holes spaced about 12" apart. Can someone tell me what there holes are for?

There was a brass rod to
open the oil caps on the
generator also

So hold open the caps with the rod then drip oil on the rod to direct it into the cups? Is there someplace (clips)on the tractor that holds the rod? Very interesting.
