ford 4000 hydraulic fluid

2D17B is the unit number code, it says the tractor was built 1972 April 17 on day shift
Serial number C336048 confirms it to be a 72 model built in the US

The only was to remove the hydraulic suction screw is the split the rear axle from the transmission. Drain the fluid and wash/clean the screen as best you can in place, while the lift top is off clean the control and unloader valves and check the draft control linkage adjustments
You should have a service manual or I&T manual on hand for the adjustment process

Ok. Thank you very much. I been trying to fix it for awhile

Also I have the front end loader from a 1965 3000
Numbers: 31024F C1042925L I'm hoping it will work on the 1972 I'm thinking I'll have to bleed the system any advice as to how I should do this?

31024F is a model number code but it’s not reading right
310 is a 3000 all purpose
2 is a gas engine
4 is independent 540 pto, this was not available on a 3000, code should be a 2 or 3
F is a 4x4 torque converter transmission that was not available with a pto, clean the area better to see if that is a C for 8 spd manual or E for Select O Speed transmission

Loader from a 3000 will not fit a 4000 all purpose model without the proper brackets, but can be fitted to a 4000SU model
Clean the area behind the number you found on the 4000, the model code is often in that area
Model code starting with D10 is a all purpose model, D14 is a special utility

The numbers for the 3000 confirm that it is indeed a 3000. The first part of the model number, 31024F, says that it is a 3000 with a gas engine, but the last two characters cannot be 4F. The 4 in the 5th position would mean that it has independent 540 rpm PTO, and the F in the last spot would mean that it has a 4x4 auto reversing transmission. The only transmission available with independent PTO on a 3000 was the S-O-S transmission, which used the trans code E, and the 4x4 auto reversing trans was not available with any kind of PTO, so I think that the model number is really 31024E rather than 31024F. C1042925 is a 1965 serial number, but I don't know what the L at the end is, unless that was just a typo on your part.

The numbers that you posted from what you think is a 4000 don't tell us the model, only when it was built. Bot of those tractors should have a third number, which is probably stamped up into the rough part of the casting. If it is a 4000, then the loader will fit the dimensions of the tractor, but depending on how the fromt of the loader frame is mounted to the 3000, you may need to fabricate new mounting brackets for the front, as the 3000 and 4000 had different front axle supports (bolsters).

The third number is up above the ones that you found, in the rougher part of the casting. You may need to use a wire brush to remove some paint to find them.
