OT ZIP LINE

This is my Zip Line that I have put up behind my house over my pond. It is 180 feet long. 5/8" cable between two big Tuplip Poplar trees. High end is about 15 feet and low end is about five feet. So far nobody has tried it. Wonder why???

My grandson is shown demonstrating it.

The bike wheel and handle bars are my idea. Hey, it even has brakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody want to come try it out? Be the first one to be brave enough to do it????

It has a wooden seat hanging from the handle bar on a rope.

Wish I were about 20 years younger, I'd be the first to fall into the pond!!!!

looks god to me , even in the shape I'm in i would love to try it! joe
PS just has to be warm.

Zane, My daughter had a friend in college who was from Alabama. He tried para-sailing behind his father's pickup truck! Maybe you are related!

Might be kind of fun, but I would rig up some kind of cable guide to keep the wheel centered over the cable. Might be kind of nasty if the wheel comes off the cable and it slides up the side of the wheel and gets stuck.

Zane,
Up here the wheel would be "fixed" at the high point and the cable would run along the wheel to make our clothesline. :0)

reminds me of when I was younger--me and my younger brother stretched a cable behind Dad's JD 720 into a pecan tree--we slipped irrigation pipe over the cable and slid down that thing most of the day---well long story short, dad came home earlier than expected and neither one of us could sit down for awhile. good times.

I snow skied behind a Willys jeep when I was about 22. Water skis don't make good snow skis!

I'm going to make sure it is secure before anybody rides it. I've testes it with 200# weight and it seemed to be OK.
I'm about the only one I know who is 200# that might ride it. Heart doctor is not crazy about that number either!

I looked on Ebay and other sites for a trolley but the largest size is for a 5/16" cable and mine is 5/8". Besides a one of their's is over $50. I'm way to cheap to do that !!!!

My dad built a zip line for us,,, its still out back... I cut all the trees down but the two that hold the line up... I did not want to hit all the nails that were drove into the tree... I picked up a car a few years back and that guy had the mutta of all zip lines but I can not remember were the ell it was at...
