Poor connection

these are the two wires coming from what u call the loom. were they originally two wires together
I have no clue, never worked on one of those tractors. As I said, just using general knowledge of electrical systems on brands I have worked on. One of the main issue on this situation in my opinion is you purchased an inexpensive off brand tractor, possibly because it was what you could afford. In situations like this due to the limited numbers of these tractors that are out there which means far less owners and people that are exposed to them. So far less folks that can say “I know how that is put together and this goes to this and that wire goes there.” This is also really outside of the types of tractors normally that are the subjects here. Thus we need the help of the wiring diagram to fill the “lack of knowledge” gap.

I can get a wiring diagram but won't be able to understand it. Well thanks for all your help. I'm sure they are plenty others that need help.

The issues that you are facing are complex. a seasoned tractor or automotive mechanic can work with the diagram. it is far far better than the collective lack of experience on this forum with this tractor. The repair might cost as much as the tractor. We cannot begin to diagnose failed charred wiring that is already disconnected. Best of luck and I hope you purchased that tractor for a very modest cost. Jim

I'll get it going with some special help from above. I hope you have a good day and thanks again everyone on here has been extra helpful.

When you move the ground wire to the frame, clean the paint and or rust off down to clean metal and then attach the wire

If you can get the right wiring diagram for your tractor and post a copy, that can be read, someone may be able to help you through it.

Buying an off brand tractor is like taxes..Pay now or pay later.

They are not really all that off brand
The cooling system is Ford, the engine is a modified version of a Ford 3 cylinder, the transmission is from a 3600 Ford, hydraulic pump and lift top are copies of Ford, rear differential and gears are Ford
Front axle and hydrostatic steering are Long, brakes I’m told are Long
The wiring is a copy of Ford with modern safety devices such as high/low beam head lamps, turn signals, brake lights, hazard lights all wired thru a fuse panel
Ford didn’t go to a fuse panel on open station US models till the 30 series in the early 90’s

Is there anyway possible you could send me a picture of the wires that attach to your ignition switch so I will know what the one looked like before it got burned.

Well I been bought new cables for my tractor and it still just clicks when turning the key switch. mechanic at the tractor place said it may be the solonoid
Well mine will crank as long as you got booster cables on battery and negative end of booster cables grounded on the frame

Is your

Sorry but as I had stated before the wiring on my tractor was severely damaged when I purchased the tractor
I rewired the tractor using a Ford wiring harness that I personally modified using part of the Farmtrac harness
I remember that white/red wire but don’t remember what it went to or if it branched off to multiple locations
I will look but am pretty sure what was left of the original harness was sent to scrap last year

I'm on a waiting list for a wiring harness I can crank it but need to find out what that other wire is I know my gauges don't work. I probably already sent your this pic it shows both wires coming from "loom,"

I would use a test light to see which one is hot or positive. A test meter can show hot and ground if I'm not mistaken, but it's my brother that has that knowledge, he's mapped out the electrical on our tractors and educated me on what's what over the years. If one is white with red stripe that's likely a hot wire. You could put a wire nut or a dead end splice to isolate them and lower your risk of a accidental fire or damage to the electrical system. Google farmtrac 555 wiring schematics. I'll try it this evening when I get home

I thank you so much it's expensive to be stupid like me. I do know this when u put it (red/white wire) on the switch it gets hot and if you put those two wires together they smoke.i guess I could isolate it I wished only I knew if it hooked up to the brown/green wire somehow. oh well enough said for all you have done.
