This past fall I was at Antique Pull in Northern Va. There was a Farmall B and a SC in the competion. They did very well for there classes. Do A's ever get in on the competion ? I have not seen that many antique pulls.

An offset tractor (A) may have a disadvantage to try to get all the power to the ground evenly, a SC has an advantage with the larger rims and tires. Look closer to see what mods those B and SC's had. I like to see lightweight pullers succeed, those IH engines can be made to have more power if rules allow.

VA, In my neck of the wood Farmall A and B do very well in the 2500# and 3000# class. One guy Has a super A rear end with super c front end and pulls 2500# and 3000# He place's every time.
When you get into the 3500 # and 4000# you get the stripped down H and is hard for A and B top out pull that. oldiron29

To follow up, do you want to pull with your your A ?, if so strip it down to minumum and put weight on the right of the tractor belly to make up the weight difference for your class.
A super A motor or 140 motor would help. If you put larger tires on it you may exceed the 3 mph rule at some pulls. Draw bar height is also a consideration.
Good Luck

A's and B's will do fine in the right weight classes.

Super C's are great pullers, anywhere from 3500# to 4500# and sometimes more. I've seen Super C's beat H's.

I've read many a post from Hugh McKay about how great the As and Bs are as pulling tractors. Granted, it's a different type of tractor pull that he's talking about, where the calculate the score based on how much you pull, how far you pull it, and what the tractor weighs.

On a weight-transfer sled, I'd imagine a B would do as well as a C, or maybe even better because of the 24" rear wheels.

I have a B and a super C. The C out pulls the B in any gear both in power and traction. The B has 3 1/8 pistons & the super c has 3 3/16 pistons.
