wd w/ loader

I purchased a WD in poor condition a few months ago. I"ve made a lot of headway getting it up and running but since I have never owned or ever driven a AC before I have a few stupid questions.
1. After getting the hydraulics going (everything was rust froze)when I move the control lever up the rear rams go up than the loader lifts when I move the control lever down the loader goes down but the rear rams remain up. Is this normal and what posistion should I have the Hyadraulic pump linkage in with loader and brush hog?
2. the transmission cluch lever has a bungee cord pulling it back. When I run the tractor the lever wanders up - taking the power so the tractor stops. I pull the lever back and it moves again. I can"t get it to stay in the off posistion without holding it. What would be the likely cause of this and how can I fix it. Right now I feel like I need three hands to run the tractor.
thanks for the help

You may need to either adjust the linkage or rebuild "the hand clutch I'll call it" lever' Or just put the bungee cord back on it. Technically you aren't supposed to start the tractor moving with this lever but everyone does it including me. When I bought mine I brought it home and went to unload it and it wouldn't move, boy was I hot. I got off the tractor and headed to the phone, then I happened to think of the hand clutch. It had bounced forward on the way home. After pulling it back I drove it right off the trailer.

No load on the 3 point/snap couple arms means no go down since it is power up gravity down and there is not enough of a load on the arms to get them to drop well if at all. As for the hand clutch there is an adjustment for it but to explain it here would be very hard but it is explained well in the I-T A/C-11 manual

Thanks for the replys - looking at the manual I think for now i'm going with a stornger bungee :) I won't mess with the delayed lift again for now - looks like I have that right.

What do you mean by saying not to start the tractor moving with the hand clutch? It gives the tractor live pto and hydraulics, so you can start and stop tractor motion while using the other two functions.

The hand clutch should have a definite "snap" when you engage or disengage it. If not, remove the battery and box...there is a cover under that, remove it to expose the clutch. At three locations around the clutch you will find a pair of bolts. Each location should have some brass shims. LOOSEN, not remove those bolts a pair at a time, and pull a shim out (they are slotted). Remove one at each location. Check handle for a "snap". If not, remove more shims, always the same number at each location. If all shims are removed, and the lever doesn"t snap, the clutch plates are worn, and need to be replaced, which requires splitting the tractor. Also check for worn pins and links in the three locations. If the lever has excessive side play, it can be bushed on the pivot.

I love my hand clutch. Only use the foot clutch for getting PTO stuff a turning. Every thing else is the hand clutch.
You need to do the adjustment properly, as mentioned above. If you run with worn packs then you may find your self in a situation where that wet clutch starts slipping. This will usually happen when it's 20° outside and snowing.

Have fun with your WD.
Great Tractors.

Yep have to agree on the hand clutch. Most of the time I forget and even start my WD45 in gear with the hand clutch disengaged and then just pull back and go. I use it a lot pulling the hay rake. Ya to much tractor for that job

The only time you use delayed setting on pump is if using a cultivator. The pump needs to be set in the hold position for loader and brushhog. Both of them can not be used at the same time, unless you put a shut off valve in the line to the loader. Otherwise the loader will raise to the limit before the brushhog starts to raise. Whatever is the lighest will raise first.
I use the hand clutch 99% of the time. It runs in oil. Footclutch is dry. It only gets used to change gears and to start pto when something is attach to it. PS-and to stop everything if have to.

NEKS - I have a shut off valve in line just passed where the loader is plummed in at the remote ram outlet in the back. This should work when I get the brushhog I think?????? I will have to start to play with the hand cluch a bit the only time I have used it was to move it to keep the tractor running.
