What a Weekend

Our annual toy show was Friday and Yesterday with setup on Thursday. We also show real tractors so last weekend we hauled ours in and parked them outside the show building as the weather was fairly warm. Thursday it had cooled down considerably and my Eagle Hitch D Case would not roll so we got a torch and thawed it out. Yesterday I cracked the drain plug and let it set overnight for the water to drain out. When I went to tighten the plug this morning it fell out and I had a mess to clean up. Forty dollars later and with help from some friends, we got the mess cleaned up. Now to get it hauled home and opened up to wash out the rearend before I refill it.

I'm about ready to give up on old tractors. NOT

I'd be crying my eyes out for you if I wasn't trying to keep 200 head of cattle fed and watered in below zero temps.

Tom, I feel your pain. A couple of years ago I bought a Case 310 that had been dead for 8 years. Couldn't get the trailer close, about 200 yards away. Had everything in the truck to get it running, carb, dist, battery, boat type gas tank, etc.

Walked in with a tool bag and a 1 gal bucket to check it out. Drained a little water out of the engine & torque tube drain plugs, cracked the transmission drain plug, sat the bucket under it and walked back out to unhook and drive my truck in.

Meanwhile the seller comes home, sees the bucket under the transmission, thinks I am changing oil so is going to help me. Needless to say a 1 gal bucket is somewhat small for 4 gals of SAE 90 and probably a gal or so of water that leaked in over the years.

When I got back, he was standing there, oil soaked from head to toe, with the drain plug in his hand.

My hand goes out to you (hat goes off to you) man. My slobbering whineys that have, enjoy all the good things I have (other than heated living quarters) as a human being, roll their eyes at me when the temp is in the teens as it was this morning. I provide shelter from the elements, and all the feed goodies.

Can't imagine running a heard on Montana out in the open which some of you do. Hat's off to you. Don't know how the critters survive.

At least you dont have to milk them!!!
It was 7 degrees when i went to the barn this morning, won't be any better tomorrow.

Nope,did that for 33 years. Did the frozen manure spreader,groaning gutter cleaner,frozen drinking cup thing for as long as a human being should ever have to suffer.
