    SOS on a 3000

Hi SOS transmission can be a real beauty to drive but are well known to be prone to problems if not properly looked after. They can be costly to repair and few people know how to fix them properly when they break. Parts are also becoming hard to get for them. It takes a little time to get used...

    Ford 4000 Instrument cluster

Hi If you drop me an email i will forward what i have if it helps you. The light circuit is pretty simple - you have a live from your key switch to the light switch. The first position has a double red wire on it to operate the rear lights and the marker lights if fitted. Second position has...

    ford 3000

Hi To the best of my knowledge the flywheel is not a timed item - it bolts on in any position.

    ford 3000

Hi This may help. All the pulleys are keyed including the one on the fuel pump. There is a "centre pop" mark on all these pulleys and there is only one place that they all line up. I set mine up by lining up the mark on the idler to the mark on the crankshaft pulley so that the other 2 pop...

    Ford 4000 Instrument cluster

Hi Does anyone have a clearly readable wiring diagram for a 1967 4000 (UK version). The one in my manuals are not clear and the current wiring appears to be badly messed up. Burns out bulbs very quickly. Thanks

    Florida

Thanks to all who replied. I hope to be moving to Rockledge just North of Melbourne. Not quite in the country like i'm used to but at least the sun shines there and i'll have a pool to look forward to.

    Florida

Moving to Florida shortly. Can anyone tell me if there is a vintage tractor scene in this state? Fairs, tractor shows or anything that will let me indulge? Saying goodbye to all my Fords in the UK.

    8000 major problems

Had same issue with my TW30 which while being slightly bigger is pretty similar. It was as expected the Dual power clutch pack. When tractor split dual power mechanism housing was smashed in pieces. Bought a second hand one from breakers as much the easiest and cheapest solution. All told it...

    3000 not running right help

My 3000 is a bit the same. This tends to happen after a long period of inactivity. If you try driving it, it will stall and be very hard to start. I have never been able to find out what is causing it, but have discovered that if the cold start button on the pump is pressed it starts right up...

    Tractor Activity in Florida

Hi all I'm contemplating a move to Florida from the UK. Can anyone tell me what the vintage tractor scene is like in Florida re shows and how easy is it to pick up Ford Tractors for restoration? I would contemplate taking my collection out with me but the expense may be prohibitive.

    Massey ferguson

It is the start position but i think if its diesel there is another button/lever to be pressed at the same time. On a petrol version the tractor should turn over when the gear lever is put into this position. Post your query in the Harry Ferguson forum as the guys there would maybe be a bit...

    white vs. blue wheels

This is really a difficult subject. It is my belief based on research (including taking to people who write books on the subject) that a >65 2000 had white wheels and blue fenders. A 3000 had white wheels and blue fenders until mid 67 when the fenders changed to white. The rest of this range...

    5000 SOS Transmission Help

The problem occurs the tractor has been stopped at a road end and the pedal released to move across the road. I can rectify the issue when it happens by pressing the inching pedal, downshift to 8th and then release the pedal again and the tractor will move normally. 8th gear is quite slow for...

    5000 SOS Transmission Help

Had my 65 5000 SOS out on a run on Saturday. It shifts up and down the gears real good (or as good as an SOS tranny can). However at a road end if the inching pedal was depressed and the tranny was in 9th gear, as soon as the inching pedal was released the tractor moves about 2 feet and then...

    3000 Ford Tractor Serial Number

Re manufacture date - I believe that the code 5J17C indicates that it was manufactured on 17 th september 1965 on the night shift. The serial number is too early for it to be 1975. My 3000 is 7J17 - built exactly 2 years after yours.
