tea20 throttle lever won't stay in position

Hi John, I have replaced the friction disc and clamped Fully the throttle rod spring. With nothing else connected to the throttle rod, how easy or hard should it be to move the throttle lever????

    Throttle Lever resistance TEA20

Just how much friction is needed to keep the throttle lever from slipping. I have just replaced the round friction disc with a new piece of soft rubber and clamped up the throttle lever spring, it can not be clamed up any further. Without the governor rod or compensating spring etc attached...

    Tea20 Governor compensating spring

I have a question about the governor spring, what is the correct length. As per photo I have 2 the shorter is off of my tractor and the longer I was told was a new replacement. Anything longer than my original wont work unless shortened my original is not working as it should either.

    Tacho Dwell meter connecting

Folks I have purchased this tacho Dwell meter so that I can finally set idle and 1500 rpm along with max rpm. It did not come with a manual and want to be absolutely sure I connect it correctly. Do not want to cook it Any advice appreciated. <img...

    TEA20 Throttle cork friction disc

Thinking of replacing the current throttle lever friction disc which appears to be rubber and not holding that well even with the spring clamped up tight. Is the cork anything special as I was looking at making one from a cork floor tile. I believe the cork should be about 5mm thick??? Any...

    More TEA Governor Question's

Hi Steve Think where I have been going wrong is in not putting the throttle lever in fully open position and then setting the ubolt to get max revs. From what I understand the PTO should be doing 540rpm at 1500 revs, if max motor revs are 2200rpm then what would PTO be doing. Regards

    More TEA Governor Question's

Thanks Steve. Pretty sure I got it sorted but with a flat tyre I won't know for sure for a day or two. I have another question you may be able to help with. The hand throttle lever can travel quite a distance. If I were to open/move to fully open is that normal operating position. Half way seems...

    More TEA Governor Question's

Ok so after much effort to get the governor working as it should with no joy. I have resorted to replacing with new. A few questions before I close her all up. Firstly I was expecting a lot of oil to escape when removing the timing cover. The timing chain certainly wasn't dry with only a little...

    Crankshaft oil slinger/deflector

Hi John Certainly I will check chain when I get to do the change over of Govener. Im not expecting any problems there hopefully as it was replaced when I did the restore. I have probably done no more than 50 hours since then. As I'm wanting to get a slasher/topper mower then I need the governor...

    Crankshaft oil slinger/deflector

Thanks for your replies. I remember the brass shims as being behind the sprocket when retoring my own tractor, so can only conclude that the video is incorrect suggesting the shims are placed immediately behind the slinger. They would serve no purpose would they. Thanks

    Crankshaft oil slinger/deflector

Folks I have just read the manual and watched a video on removing the timing cover to gain access to the govener weights etc. The video shows that behind the timing cover oil seal that there is an oil slinger and then 2 brass shims. The manual makes no mention of brass shims. Have any of you...

    TEA20 Govenor operation

Hi Thanks so much for your explanation. I never really understood how it all worked but I am certainly enlightened now. Having said that I do really suspect I have a dodgy governor weights or cup. I do have the full manual so somewhat confident that I have all the linkages and spring settings...
