    NH 1002 Bale Wagon

The rope used to raise/lower the loader is worn out. The original is 7/16 in. cotton 3 strand. I"m having difficulty finding this dia. rope in cotton. I can get 1/2 in easily but it won"t pass through the pulley guards. It"s a big job to cut and re-set these. NH wants a big price for the...

    Ford 2N brakes

I appreciate the feedback, guys. Looks like I was expecting too much. It is actually getting a little better as the shoes get bed in. I know the brake was often used to help drag the tractor around sharp corners. It will almost do that now. Peter

    Ford 2N brakes

okay-can someone unlock this mystery? I can't get the RHS brake to grab. LHS works oerfectly. There's no oil leak onto the drum and I've just installed new shoes, No improvement. The brake will just stop the tractor if you stand fully on the pedal. Even then, it reluctantly groans to a...

    JD Model EE Seed Drill

The grass seed is hanging up in the 3/4 in. I/D plastic tubes I've used to connect the seed box to the spouts. I've mixed about 40% brome in with alfalfa and timothy. The brome's the problem. A larger tube won't fit into the spout. I have a gradual bend in each tube (coiled when new) and...

    McKee Model 750 Snowblower

I bought this used with a 1000 PTO drive. It's a good blower and the right size, but my tractor has 540 PTO. It doesn't work well at the slower speed. Any suggestions on how to increase the speed? I know the speed change can be achieved on some round balers by simply reversing the g/b. Maybe...

    Double Disc Furrow Openers

Thanks for the feedback guys. Sounds like the bearings are worn. I'll see if I can better adjust with paper washers. Peter

    Double Disc Furrow Openers

I"m fixing up an old JD/Van Brunt seeder. Not sure how to set the double discs. Should they touch at the bottom or have a small gap? I have significant movement (swing) in the bearings although they rotate smoothly. Touching would help keep things aligned. I presume the scrapers (inside and...

    47 Ford 1 Ton

Thanks Su. Good suggestions. I did actually change out the rear end. I got a re-built one from a wreckers (something like a '54). Like new, but still the same miserable 4.86:1. Peter

    47 Ford 1 Ton

I agree totally. I may just leave things stock anyway. Just fishing here for cheap "go faster" options. Thanks Peter

    47 Ford 1 Ton

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Yes, changing out the rear end would be cheaper. I've considered that but concerned over loss of torque in lower gears. I'm wondering if there's an original manual transmission with overdrive that would fit, without affecting the gear lever position. Peter

    47 Ford 1 Ton

I"m currently restoring this. It has the original manual 4 speed. I"m considering installing an overdrive so I can comfortably drive it on modern roads. Any suggestions on a reasonably cheap way to do this?
