    9N Tires

The front tires on my 9N are severly cracked and have slow leaks. So it appears that I am going to have to get some new tires. The current front tires are the 3-rib ag tires. Anyone able/willing to educate me on tractor tires? In particular, I use the tractor for maintianing my gravel drive...

    9N Help

9N would not start this morning. I have good gas flow and a freshly charged battery. Cranks strong but does not wnat to catch. I put new plugs in last week, but now I do not have any spark. 12-volt conversion has been done. So where do I go from here?

    Tractor Started! New problem...

Thanks to everyone for their help in troubleshooting my tractor woes. Long story short, I was draining the gas tank and talking to the cows (I am fluent in Herford, Angus and Holstein) with the voltmeter in hand. I casually looked down at the engine and I noticed that one of the wires was...

    9N Start Problems Update

You mean you cannot remember everything that I have told you already? LOL! I am not very good at mind reading either. Engine turns strong, but won't catch. New plugs and fresh gas. I cleaned the screens and have good fuel flow to the carb. Carb was leaking gas with the choke out, so I took...

    9N Start Problems Update

Finally had time to wrestle with the tractor this weekend. I opened up the gap on the plug and scraped some paint off the block. Clamped the plug to the block and turned the key - no spark whatsoever. So where do I go from here? Distributor and coil? Thanks in advance for the help...

    9N Won't Start! Carb Problem?

This may be a stupid question, but how do I "ground a spark plug"? I am thinking that I remove the plug from the engine, with the plug wire still on it and then hold the side electrode to a clean (no rust/paint) part of the engine while turning over the starter. Is this correct? Is there a...

    9N Won't Start! Carb Problem?

Thanks for the advice. For what it is worth: - Tractor has been converted to 12v. - Gas is fresh. - I put fresh plugs in this last Saturday morning (Autolites/.25 gap). - I get pretty good flow when I take the supply line off of the carb. That said, I am not sure what it should be. Perhaps...

    9N Won't Start! Carb Problem?

My 9N will not start. It started and ran for about two minutes and then died. It did this about three times and now it just cranks and cranks, but refuses to turn over. I replaced the plugs and tried to jump it with my truck, but it was not going to start. I noticed that after half a dozen...

    Hydraulic Problem?

I assume that you are talking about the lever under the right side of the seat (with a bracket and wing nuts to set the blade level). If so, I set the blade to just the top of the gravel and it stays. When I move forward, the three point drops to the ground and the pitch of the blade increases...

    Hydraulic Problem?

When pulling my blade over gravel, the three point on my 9N drops all the way down. However, it stays up fine when I have it all the way up. It also stays where I put it when I am pushing gravel in reverse. Any ideas what is going on? Thanks in advance for the help. Bill

    Headlight Question

Thanks for the advice. I will open them up this weekend. Also, is this an automotive bulb that I can buy at a parts store? If so, does anyone have a part number? Thanks again.

    Headlight Question

Took the 9n out yesterday and plowed some snow. However, it was dark and I was wishing the headlights worked. My tractor has been converted to 12-volt. So, how do I determine if my lights are the original 6-volt? Will I need to replace the entire light? Somebody help the tractor newb...

I have an alternator. I know that much. :) Thanks for the input. I appreciate the help.

    More Tune-Up Questions

I see. I am assuming that it is a relay of some sort. So how do I jump across the cut out? I see where I use metal pliers, but what am I connecting? Do I touch the battery terminal with and the relay at the same time? Thanks for the patience.

    More Tune-Up Questions

Thanks for the explanations. It is still unclear to me exactly what the "cut-out" on a battery is.
