    Needed more space

Combine heads take up lots of shed room so I decided to stack them up. I have a head mover with skid loader brackets so moving them is not a problem. Hope to build another one next year for chopper heads in the other shed.

    Chopped barley silage last week

I made two 7x150 ft silage bags of direct cut barley. It was harvested in the dough stage using a mower bar head on my model 12 John Deere chopper. Pulling it is the 1968 4020 dad bought new and some of the 122 Chuck Wagons we own.

    More for the collection.

This morning on market place I found this IH 51 forage wagon for $250. This is the first one I have seen in my area in 10 years of looking. What is super neat is that this is the deluxe model. It has a steel under frame and chain cross conveyor instead of belt. Everything works good. Seller...

Added another piece to the collection

I bought a very nice John Deere F125 3 bottom 16 inch plow last week. It goes very well with our 2520 diesel. With the nice weather I had to turn a little dirt. Tom

    Big shop project

I have my 105 Deere combine in the shop for a complete going over. The biggest part is changing it from a variable speed drive to a hydraulic drive or hydro. I bought a parts machine with a hydro for the project. Yesterday we got the hardest part done which was changing the drive axle assembly...

    John Deere F620 plow

Late this summer I picked this 3 bottom 14 inch plow up for my collection. You can still read the dealer sticker on it. I have 3 bottom F125 mounted plow and a 3 bottom F145 semi mount plow and always wanted a F620. I grew up in an area where there were no trailer plows. All mounted or semi...

    Shelled a little corn today

Got the 105 out to shell today but the corn is 21-22% moisture. Plan was to shell about 8 acres and I have 12 acres of oats planted Aug. 1 and to mow both and chop 1/2 load of each and then bag the silage for my beef cows. My grain bin has a floor and fan but no dryer. I have air dried corn...

    John Deere 42 combine

I saved a few beans to try the 42 pull type combine on. It took 3 rows in second gear fine. I had the last pass with 4 rows and they fit but it overloaded the clean grain elevator. First worked fine for 4 30 inch rows. Beans were about 65 bu to the acre. Sorry no action pics as the wife was...

    Dirtiest job on the farm

The most dusty dirtiest job I do is chopping soybean stubble. I use to chop a bunch but now only do one wagon load for the wife for garden mulch and flower beds. If you can see the wagon they are to wet and will mold. These pics were taken with the wind blowing away. The other way across the...

On Deere 46a laoders there were 2 different lift cylinders. The first is 2 1/2 bore with 1 1/2 rod the second is 2 1/4 bore with 1 1/4 rod. Would the bigger cylinder be capable of lifting more? Tom

    Grain drill seed disc

I just replaces all the opener discs and bearings on a Great Plaines 1006 drill my neighbor owns. The original bolts had some type of yellow thread locker. He did not get me new bolts so I reused the old ones. Now that I am finished and have each disc shimmed should I remove each one and use...
