    i have a 45 2n and was wondering if the steering box was lubed by the grease in the trans. or does it has it own sump. i need to fill it up but it leaks out. if it has its own sump could i fill it up with wheel bearing grease to keep it going?

    ID my tractor.

    you may have a 1950 ford 2n tractor. ford switched the distributor from the front mount to the side mount in late 50. if you have can post a picture of the the serial number i may be able to identify it better for you.

    ford 2n hydralic pump

    Does all ford 2n hydralic knock a little when hot? i used it this evening and the pump knock a little bit louder than it usualy does. i guess this is normal? the fluid levels are all full and i just replaced it in the fall of 08. i guess its an age thing

    Replacing hydraulic fluid

    Start at the front of the trans. remove the bottom plug and work your way back to the small plug under the housing. then drain for 30 minutes or more. Then replace with 90w Gear oil from your local napa parts dealer they will have what you need. will work every time you need.

    new gauge is best to keep from blowing the engine. pump probably needs primed. dont rigg it do it right the first time and spend a little dough to save yourself from having prblems.

    please save your self the trouble and buy a new one. old is good but not with your cooling system.

    2N won't start

    put a teaspoon of gas in each cylinder then try to start it if you have plenty of spark. if plugs are dry, then your carb could be clogged up bad gas and water will do that. i had a lawn mower with watery gas runned terribly then died. drained the gas and sprayed carb cleaner through then...

    Bob in Tennessee, on the 2n what kind of price would you have on it. is it ing good shape. Do you have a price on the 8n? My price range is 1,000 - 1,400 Thats because of the miles away it is.
