Case D hydraulic pump

what are they for
They provide some clamp for the gasket on the ends of the top tank. On the bottom the large 1/2in x 5in long bolts do the same thing when you mount the rad assembly.

Edit to add: If you are asking what the hex screws in the sides are in my pictures, that is where I attached the chain to lift the rad assembly. Not sure what those holes were originally used for

Yep,I was guessing that's what they were probably for

Good deal on the tank! Where did they put the body putty? seems odd that they would put it on at random, was it on the mating flange with the core? the drain pipe, or a thin or porous area?

It was on outside of tank on bottom. The shiny spots is where I ground filler off. No idea why it was there.

On another note, I need verification on my amp meter after installing 1wire alternator. Does the 1wire go to the amp meter and then on to the starter post?

Yes, looking at the back of the gauge your alt lead will go on the left, then run a jumper from the right lead to the battery side of your starter switch.

Also, make sure you run a heavy enough wire from the alternator to handle the amperage. Most GM style 1 wires are 63 amp so it technically should have 10ga wire on it. A lot of people get by with a smaller wire, and you probably can too, since there is very little power consumption on these after they are running but I find it charges better with a heavier lead.

That shiny spots look like some sort of previous welding repair, but can't be sure, the filler may have been used to stop leaks if the repair was not totally successful.

thats what I assumed but after I ground the stuff off I dont find any holes. no leaks as far as I can tell off radiator. no light shining through
