I am putting the front end back together on my MF135. On one side there was a 1/4" plate between where the center axle and the outer axle bolt together. This plate was only on one side though. And I don't see this plate in the parts schematic for the axle. When putting back together last night I figured why not and put the plate back in on the one side. Well, with the plate only on one side it seemed like when I was drawing the bolts tight on the other side it was "torqueing" the center axle a bit and it doesn't pivot quite as easily as what it did before I tightened the axle up.
So my question is, should I make up a new plate for the other side or take out the one that came with the tractor? I am going to be putting a loader on the front so if this helps strengthen the axle at all I will make one up for the other side but if it really has no effect on anything I will remove the one that came with the tractor. I'm just not sure why it had one in the first place and why it was only on one side. You can tell it was not a homemade plate unless the guy was a professional fabricator.
