If you read my previous post. "Brand NEW 8N Engine for sale?"
(Which I discovered was a Bad example. Seems the Chinese are
making NEW 'N' engines. Who would had thought? Still waiting
to hear from someone that has bought one. If they are making
them. Someone is buying them.) Any way, back to the subject. I
got the new engine on the way to it new home. I didn't give out
much information before as to what type engine it is because I
didn't someone reading my post and buying it out from under
me. I checked on over hauling the engine I have which is
rebuildable. Basic kit with new pistons is $1170. New rod which
I would need one $60. Not sure if i would had needed a new
crank, but since it hard throw a rod, good chance it would need
one, $300. Plus I would then need the machine work done and
put back together by someone or myself. They had a good
running engine but not rebuilt at Zimmermans in PA, bare long
block,No intake, starter or nothen, $1500. All the prices are
plus shipping. I had called a local machine shop last week. They
said they wold get let me know a price that day or the next.
Never heard back. Called him today. He said he would get back
with me by the end of today. He was still checking on parts.
Haven't heard back.
I think I got a good deal. A new carburetor along by the time
you pay shipping is around $300. Plus the guy had added a
water pump. Would you believe these engines where used with
out one? Something about the transfer of heat to cold would
cause the water to flow on its own. Crazy if he ask me. But it
must hard worked to some degree. People with them today
recommend adding the water pump.
But, good news if you are needing a similar engine. I was told an
Isuzu 2,2 diesel will work. These engines where use in Referrer
trailers and are no longer legal in California. So they are being
pulled out and replace with new engines. Look around you might
find one cheap. Two where sold in Waterloo, Il for two hundred
each. This engine I bought was used in jeeps, John Deeres, Avery
and more. Maybe that information might help someone. Isuzu
2.2 was also used in the Volkswagen Rabbit. I have only heard
good things about them.
Check out the Link below to see the engine. If the link don't
work, I don't know if it will work on a sold item. If not enter 251191821297 in the Ebay search and that should work
