    Got my rearend kicked yesterday

Went up to the farm yesterday to put ether start, on a Farmall 806, my buddy just picked up. He asked my to check out a leak on his Dad's 806, that he uses on a MOCO. Pulled the batteries, found the leak in the pressure line that goes to the steering motor at the top of the steering column...

    4620 Power steering and PTO

Friend has a 4620, when started, after setting, the power steering ,brakes and PTO do not work. If you let it run a few minutes, they will start working, and no, he has no manuals. I'm trying to determine if I want to mess with it, since I have pretty much hung my wrenches up. Any clues??

    How things have changed

Recently I have seen many comments of how useless a loader tractor is, without 4 wheel drive. Frankly, I don't believe I ever saw a 4 wheel drive, farm loader tractor, prior to about 1975. I saw a lot of N series Fords, TO series Fergusons, H&M Farmalls, many with what I call waterpipe manure...

    2030 loss of hydraulics, steering.

First of all, I do not claim to know much of anything about John Deeres. I have blue paint in my blood. Trying to help a friend, of a friend, that has cancer. He suddently lost the hydraulics on his 2030 loader tractor. Does anyone have any tips for some checks to make, of possible causes...

Didn't want to steal a thread

Steve in VAs comment about Hornblowers ship full of rice, made me think of m late MIL's companion, He served on the US Coast Guard Ship, CEDAR. The were sent off the coast of Alaska to assist a boat that was foundering. It was loaded with barley. They off loaded the bags onto the Cedar, and...

    Head scratcher

Recently, my buddy had me set two of his loaders up, to use skid steer attachments. He also wanted me to find him a bale clamp, the style with two round arms, because they work better for filling his feeders. I found some on E Bay, that were one third the price of his name brand one, and free...

A new toy to play with

This is the tractor I posted about a while back, my buddy just bought it from his brother. There's more to the story. It did belong to a gentleman that was one year ahead of me, in our small school. His dad was a local crop farmer, and kept his equipment in immaculate condition. When Charlie...

    Internet as a tool(long)

As one of the original;" Computers, I'll never use one" types, I've come a long way. Got up yesterday, about 24 deg., outside, not much warmer inside, and the furnace blower was running, with no heat. Ran the thermostat setting down, the furnace shut off. Raised the setting, furnaced fired...

    MF 165 engine surge problem

My buddy recently bought a pretty decent 165, The engine will slowly vary rpms up and down. I have a set of manuals ordered, but would like to see if anyone is aware of this problem, and the repair of it. Most of my pump experience is with Sims pumps, not CAV. It's a little irritating when...

    Re:

Congratulations on getting a great old tractor. Super Majors had dry disc brakes, and are pretty simple to work on. Before trashing the tachometer, make sure the drive cable, and ends are in good condition. The cable ends were known to round off, or it could be a broken cable. I have freed...

    Exhaust conversion

Would someone, with a 3 cyl. 2000/3000 with through the hood vertical exhaust, give me the measurements from the front, rear, lower edge and center of the hood, for the hole. I'm converting one with a down flow, to vertical, for a friend, and would like to do it right. Thanks in advance.

    7050 dash warning lights

I need some help from the brain trust. A good friend has a 7050 Allis. The bank of warning lamps at the top of the dash has recently stopped working. He has asked me to figure out why, and to fix it. He is mainly concerned because it has the transmission and filter warning system. He has...

    Bern

As much as I hate borrowing tools, I'm afraid I need to take you up on your offer. The #1 jerk pump retainer is leaking on the TW30. I got a new O ring from Brim, but they don't have a socket, and can't get them anymore. Same with Messicks. My cell. is 360-391-2924. Mt Vernon Brim had the...

    Bern

Bern; Do you know the size of the spline ended tubing wrench for the fittings on the injection pump on the TW 30s. And where to get one. I used to have one, but think I loaned it out and it didn't come back home. Don't remember where I got it originally.

    Fordson Tractors

There was a comment a few days ago about Ford C series trucks, and hauling two tractors. Here is a picture of the used Fordson tractors that Harve imported that year. It was the second year I worked for him and started my apprenticeship, as well as driving the Super Duty C-750, with beavertail...

    Replacement key for Dexta?

This message is a reply to an archived post by bhayden on October 09, 2018 at 19:53:15. The original subject was "Re: Replacement key for Dexta?". I used to use the nail file on my fingernail clippers, on the Dextas and Majors, if they didn't have a key.
