Sounds like a garden tractor being used as a Timber-Jack . By somebody in a hurry .
Wonder if the tow chain was attached to the rigid drawbar , attached to a drawbar in the three point lower links or attached to the three point upper link mount ?

This guy has a real problem he doesn't want to help . He just wants to draw people away with his sleazy remarks. Why people use there energy in this manner I can't tell you it's a 28HP tractor yes they are smaller than their older counterparts but a mid size compact tractor that has 21 HP at the pto not a garden tractor it is a able machine. It has been a workhorse for 5 years for me. I really appreciate the reply I have received to date. And I thank everyone who has given me their info I will start tearing it down next week. I plan to drain all hydrolic fluid. Then take weight off back wheels, remove seat so I can have a good view of back diferential see if I can free it up if not move forward and check transmission. If anyone has a better plan send it by me thanks again.

If you are complaining about the remarks and calling me sleazy . I consider myself to be in good company with the other persons you have whined about .
The long and the short of it is . You bent the tractor after a series of shock loads over the years . Until something warped out of shape and seized internally in the transaxle .
Unless you can find a Branson with a failed engine . The next cheapest solution is finding another tractor .

I don't for the life of me know what
happened. So, a log that was being pulled
by the winch, got stuck on something. So
you backed up, took a run at it and when
you hit the end if the cable, the log
didn't pop loose nut your tractor flexed
somewhere in the middle and now won't start
and the wheels don't seem to want to turn.
The winch, 3 point and pto shaft are all
free. Sounds to me like you broke your
tractor in half but it didn't actually
separate. I've pulled some big loads with
my cub cadet garden tractors, including
cars and stumps that I've taken a run at to
break loose and have NEVER felt anything
give or flex. The Branson doesn't appear to
be built like a traditional tractor in that
it doesn't look to have much ''meat''
connecting the front half to the rear.
Compare the 20 some horsepower Branson to a
20 some horsepower Farmall H and you'll see
what I mean. My guess is overstressed parts
plus an under built machine equals a
catastrophic failure. But I've been wrong
before too.

I'm also trying to wrap my head around how they can make a 3 cylinder turbodiesel powered, all wheel drive hydrostatic drive tractor weigh barely 2,000 pounds. My 149 Cub Cadet is a much smaller tractor, single cylinder 14 hp engine, no front drive and it still weighs about 1,000 pounds. How did Branson add that much in size and components and still only double the weight of a garden tractor? They had to cut corners somewhere to achieve that savings in weight.

I can't say for certain but a gear may have jammed or hydrolicvalve stuck but whatever it was I stopped the motor before anything broke. I could feel thehbtractor going under tension and ruined it right off with key. There was no grinding noise or any other noise out of the ordinary.
