    K181 ring thickness

I purchased a set of rings (0.010 over)for the K181 I am working on. The old rings have a thickness of 0.083". The new ones measure 0.062". When I placed the new ring in the groove to measure side clearance, the difference was very apparent. The new ones are supposedly from a Kohler 4110802...

Adjusting throttle control linkage on 60 low seat

Thank you for the reply. That's what I suspected about #29. The parts list refers to it as a set screw. I was hesitant to mess with the govenor without being certain.

    Piston ring positioning

On the horizontal 2 cyl. engines, what is the preferred piston ring placement positions regarding end gap locations? I read (somewhere) that on the horizontal engines, the ring end gap eventually ends up at the 12 o'clock position. I also read that placing them at 3 & 9 o'clock is not...

    Source of the leak?

I have a John Deere 60 that is leaking into the left(flywheel) cylinder. I have had the head and block surfaces machined, each done on separate. It still leaks. I removed the head and noticed the cracks near the spark plug hole (to the left of the spark plug hole and below the spark plug hole)...

    Satalite Internet? long story

Complain to your consumer protection or public utilities board. I had a problem with Frontier. (1 of many) The phone was so scratchy you couldn't hear anything but static. It was like trying to listen to AM radio during an electrical storm. This went on for over two weeks. Had to use my cell...

    Jack stands

I had two like the ones in the picture(thin sheet steel). Put one on the drivers rear side, jacked up the passenger side and watched it fold up(it seemed as it did this in slow motion) Tossed it and the other one like it in the junk. I ONLY use the sturdy ones after that. It was Camry that I...

    Yesteryear's prices

Ok, I have this box for an A6120R John Deere 60 head gasket. Here's a photo of the price written on it in pencil. I just checked what a new one goes for, add 10 in front of the written price and you would have the new prices. OUCH!!

I have this old head gasket. I don't know if it's for an A or a 60. It has a rubber section on the lower portion of the gasket. Is it a A2329R for an A or A6120R for a 60? Thank you.

    620 first reduction gear box

On my 60, the bearing on the bottom shaft (for the live PTO) had a seal on the side facing the reduction cover. I guess this was to allow the draining of the reduction cover with out draining the transmission. Also, my owners manual says 1 1/2 quarts for the first reduction gear cover and 8 1/2...

John Deere 60 Low Seat Standard ???

Is the operator's platform 2 pieces or 1. This is the plate below the brake pedals. If it is 2 pieces, you have the live engine driven PTO. If it is a solid one piece, you have the transmission driven PTO.

Removing studs from 60 cylinder block

I need to changed the block on my 60. What is a good method for removing the studs that hold the head onto the block? I plan to move them to the block that I am going to use as it has no studs in it.
