Hello. I am trying to resurrect a mf10 garden tractor I got a while back. Everything seems to be here for it except the ssi coil, didn't notice that til I took the shroud off. Anyway I've read a bit about converting this over to have a 12v coil, ignition control module, a trigger switch(abs sensor), and a toggle switch to power the coil. But, I have read some other stuff about how there are two different hh-100 engines and some you can convert and some you cant???? And if this is a true statement about some you can and cant, how do you differentiate the two?
But my understanding of what I have gathered from online sources, the abs sensor basically picks up magnetic forces when the flywheel spins from the two(long/short) trigger pins, sending that signal threw the ignition control module, then to the coil to fire the spark plug, assuming you have the toggle switch on to give the coil 12v. I dont understand how some engines you can/cant do this on? And one other thing I'm confused about, would I need an alternator to charge the battery for this set-up?
Thanks mike
